From August 23 to 27, 2026, the 29th International Conference on Raman Spectroscopy (ICORS XXIX) was held in Istanbul, Türkiye. During the conference, The Raman Award for the Most Innovative Technological Development was presented to Prof. Bin Ren, Chief Scientist of Luxiang Jiayi (Xiamen) Technology Co., Ltd. (JAYITEC) and Professor at Xiamen University, in recognition of an outstanding technological innovation in Raman spectroscopy.
The Raman Award for the Most Innovative Technological Development was established by ICORS in 2014 and is presented every two years. The award aims to honor scientists for their achievements in the development of new instrumentation and methods in Raman spectroscopy.

As Chief Scientist of JAYITEC, Prof. Bin Ren brings decades of expertise and innovation in Raman spectroscopy into the company’s product development and technology strategy, providing strong scientific foundations and technical leadership for JAYITEC’s continued advancement in spectroscopic instrumentation.

In advancing core technologies and translating research into practical applications, Prof. Bin Ren has achieved a series of internationally recognized innovations. In 2007, he successfully developed a fiber-optic-based tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) instrument. In 2015, he reported the world’s first electrochemical tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (EC-TERS) system.
Building on these achievements, Prof. Ren further developed Transient Electrochemical Raman Spectroscopy. With the support of the engineering team at Tan Kah Kee Innovation Laboratory, this technology was successfully translated into the world’s first commercial integrated electrochemical Raman spectroscopy system.
This achievement brought cutting-edge research from the laboratory to the market and now serves as a key technological foundation for one of JAYITEC’s core product lines.

Alongside his dedication to scientific research, Prof. Bin Ren has also actively promoted the integration of advanced research achievements into the education and training of future scientific innovators. He independently developed a multifunctional Raman spectroscopy system for education, which has become one of JAYITEC’s flagship products developed through the commercialization of scientific research.
Designed to overcome the limitations of conventional laboratory teaching, the system enables students not only to gain an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of spectroscopic instrumentation, but also to independently assemble different spectroscopy systems using modular optical components. This hands-on approach enhances both the practical and professional aspects of undergraduate chemistry laboratory education.
The system has been successfully incorporated into the core course Experimental Chemical Metrology under China’s Ministry of Education “Chemistry 101 Plan” and has been adopted by more than 20 universities across China.
These achievements demonstrate JAYITEC’s capabilities in independent scientific instrument development, the translation of advanced technologies into educational applications, and the integration of research, education, and industry.

Through his systematic innovations in scientific instrumentation and spectroscopic methodology, Prof. Bin Ren has twice been invited to deliver plenary lectures at the International Conference on Raman Spectroscopy (ICORS). He has also been invited to give plenary lectures at major international conferences, including the International Conference on Advanced Vibrational Spectroscopy (ICAVS) and the Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE).
On September 6, Prof. Ren received the 2025 ISE-Elsevier Prize for Experimental Electrochemistry at the 77th ISE Annual Meeting in Sydney.
Receiving prestigious awards from two of the world’s leading international organizations in Raman spectroscopy and electrochemistry highlights the international scientific community’s recognition of Prof. Ren’s outstanding interdisciplinary research achievements.

JAYITEC will continue to support Prof. Bin Ren and his team in their pioneering research in Raman spectroscopy and electrochemistry, while advancing the translation of cutting-edge research into practical products and commercial applications. We are committed to providing customers with more advanced and reliable spectroscopic instruments and analytical solutions.
